I rented the Lake House last night, to satisfy my burning curiosity-- how could two people have a love affair two years apart? I would come up with scenarios, but ultimately none worked. My problem was that I was limiting myself to reality, which apparently this movie did not feel encumbered by, because the driving plot device behind it was a MAGIC MAILBOX.
At least I didn't spend $8.50 to find that out.
Not exactly the mystery I expected...

Good God Whitney. Who have you become?!
Well, I didn't KNOW it was about a friggin magic mailbox-- I never would have rented it if I knew that! I needed a movie to rent that I wouldn't want to watch with John, so, I picked that...the one redeeming quality is that the love song was "This Never Happened to Me Before" by Our Pauly, so, at least there was that.
Yeah- I watched it for free on a plane once, and was very thankful that I hadn't paid any money for it. Hard times.
