I am going to have to divorce you, on the grounds of irreconcilable differences, if you continue down the road you are currently on. For now, we can try a trial separation-- believe me, I do not believe in divorce, and I want to make this work, but if you continue to try and sell me these:
<img style="cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 180px; height: 400px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjJgQkIAjBvqSXxI43fyVUN6_foRbVCdIkmiuLZZX8feTIAEBahZIAlHKDGLxhCvNnYV5jUXkquc9xD7zDgbLSy6aPcWmXr3cK-6D5QPqlT1WPoA0OEaeDKODZdjn6Lq4N1L_V_9Q/s400/fugly.bmp" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5325379605281207410" />

well, who could blame me for leaving you?Whitney C.http://www.blogger.com/profile/03699779373612899246noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-19008427.post-36120508739760681922009-03-03T13:45:00.005-06:002009-03-03T15:04:13.041-06:00High School SurveyOkay, I was also tagged by Melissa, and since Whitney did her answers late, I guess it’s not too late for me, either. Let me just warn you, that my high school experience, except for 10th grade, which was awesome (except for my new best friend’s old best friend almost dying), was pretty terrible; at least it seemed that way to me at the time. Now, I don't really understand what all the angst and depression was for, but I guess teenagers just aren't very rational.

Multiple High Schools… I can’t even remember the name of my 9th grade school, I just remember we were the Spartans. Then Northridge for 10th grade, and Blaine for 11th and part of 12th (I graduated early b/c I hate hate hated Blaine High School).

1. Did you date someone in high school?
No. I moved a lot, so I was always the new girl, and despite what movies & Twilight would have you believe, boys aren't lining up to show you around school or eat lunch with you. In 9th grade, I was the new girl, and had moved from California to Utah. There was a bit of culture shock. Then I moved from Ogden to Layton over the summer. I was lucky in 10th grade in the friend department, but not in the boy department. And then I was miserable in 11th grade because I moved from Utah to Minnesota and missed Whitney T. terribly, and I don't think depressed girls are very attractive to most teenage boys. And then I graduated early so 12th grade was pretty short.

2. What kind of car did you drive?
Didn’t drive in high school. I was deathly afraid of the responsibility it entailed.

3. Did you pass your driver's license test the first time?
No. It was kind of traumatic. My mother was pregnant and on bed rest and no one had time to drive with me for practice. I failed pretty bad and then my little brother made fun of me.

4. Were you a party animal?
See answer to number 1.

5. Were you considered a flirt?
Again, see number 1.

6. Were you in band, orchestra, or choir?
No

7. Were you a nerd?
I don’t think so, but I guess that depends on other people’s perceptions. I think I was just normal.

8. Did you ever get expended or expelled?
No.

9. Can you still sing your fight song?
Pfft, I have no idea what it was. I was very “anti” the whole high school spirit thing, as I hated my school.

10. Who were your favorite teachers?
Ms Smith in 9th grade, Mr. Kuzma in 11th grade. He helped me when I fainted after giving blood.

11. Where did you sit at lunch?
Almost identical answers to Whitney T’s: Sophomore year Whit and I sat in the commons, junior year is a total blank and senior year I was barely there.

12. What sports did you play?
I might have played volleyball, but since I was always moving, I always missed tryouts.

13. Were you on any varsity teams?
See above.

14. School mascot and colors?
Knight. Cardinal and Silver, & Bengal, light blue and royal blue.

15. Did you go to homecoming and who with?
I think you know the answer to this one…

16. If you could go back and do it again, would you?
Well, my knee jerk response is "Hellllllllllll no! No!" I didn't have enough wisdom to appreciate things as they happened then, but who does at that age? I don't think going back and doing it again would make much sense, I learned what I needed to learn then and moved on. In general, I am not about "going back" for anything. I live in the present, enjoy this day for what it is, and keep an eye on future.

17. What do you remember most about graduation?
My 29 year old aunt dying the day before. All the family members that came from out of state to see me graduate were too grief stricken to actually come to the graduation. I really didn’t want to go, but they made me. I don’t even remember it, really.

18. Where did you go on Senior Skip Day?
I skipped the whole second half of senior year!

19. Were you in any clubs?
Nope.

20. Have you gained weight since then?
Unfortunately, yes, lol.

21. Who was your prom date?
Didn’t go.

22. Are you planning on going to your 10 year reunion?
It already happened, and no, I didn’t go.

23. Did you have a job while in high school?
Kind of, I worked full time the second half of my senior year, but I was done with school, so that probably doesn’t count.Whitney C.http://www.blogger.com/profile/03699779373612899246noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-19008427.post-47691979821008676402009-02-24T18:58:00.001-06:002009-02-25T17:18:15.564-06:00Forbidden Fruits<img style="cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 400px; height: 367px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjx1gKtx6YgO12dvF0KLspFYSLCMFeChW8s2J75pdF5Jav-QhKzufQz6usdM6czXZAWsA7RkoKdu-xSHpQuAZV90V4iApAOYOrGpqfxpOJFuf_ORGmhj0a2SZ1ReGEpRVUuGwrUiQ/s400/twilight_candy.bmp" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5306533377902883714" />

Yes, that's right-- I totally bought these. Readers, I kid you not, I have been shocked about 20 times today. I am a static electricity generating factory. Someone should look into using me as an alternative source of energy. My cubicle has more metal then I realized. Go to file some paper work: zap. Hang up my coat: zap. Walk out of cube: zap. Really, I walked out of my cube, and a giant spark leapt from the anchor wall to shock me on my shoulder-- I didn't even touch it, it leapt out to get me. It's getting really old. I don't think I'm dragging my feet, I don't know what I can do to decrease my static. Maybe I'm dehydrated? I don't know if that even matters. So, while this is a great time of year, I could do with out all the shocking.Whitney C.http://www.blogger.com/profile/03699779373612899246noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-19008427.post-6045573013518037962008-11-06T14:36:00.003-06:002008-11-06T18:10:32.377-06:00A Good FellowThis comes from Neil Cavuto, and because it brought a tear to my eye, I wanted to share:

CAVUTO: Well, he was classy, magnanimous, a gentlemen, ripped for being out of touch, he chose just the right touch, a man who critics say only mangled his words, conjured just the right ones. I'm not talking about John McCain yesterday. I'm talking about president bush today. McCain gave a very classy speech. The president made a very classy gesture, offering only good words for the man who repudiated his run at the white house, but going one better, inviting Barack and Michelle Obama to the white house to see the place, talk about the place, and the pressures of the place, in private. These were not empty words. The president put a transition team in place months ago so that a smooth transfer of power could take place. President bush didn't have the same offer when he came into office. Lots of hurtful words since then. He wasn't even running this year, but it seemed everyone, including his own party's nominee was running against him all year. If he minded, he really didn't show it. I remember talking to the president on the White House south lawn about it. "Does it all bug you?" I asked him. "Nah," he said, shrugging his shoulders and adding simply, "I understand." A man of the people and the nation seemingly at war with him, some for good reason, and others apparently lacking any reason. He did nothing personally, always handled himself with dignity, not by what he said but precisely what he did not. I have read that the president is as kind to the elevator operator at White House as he is to a visiting [head of] state to the White House. Every time I see him, he sticks around and personally shakes the hand of each member of my crew. That is each member of my crew for one of our interviews, every single one of them, every single picture. Now, I know [these are] little things, but to me these are big things, that speak of a man far bigger than the petty things I see in the press or I hear in a harsh campaign. That ended today with a quiet gesture today, from a president who would be in his right to wag a certain finger, but instead simply [offered] something else: his hand. Not a popular thing to say, is it? But it was, it is, and he's a good fellow.

It is my own opinion that history will redeem George W. Bush, and regardless if that happens or not, I believe he is a good man, and did the best he could. Thank you for your service President Bush.Whitney C.http://www.blogger.com/profile/03699779373612899246noreply@blogger.com3tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-19008427.post-44423977814160919972008-10-31T15:14:00.001-05:002008-10-31T15:20:37.733-05:00Oww!My mouth is angry at me for all the sugar I've consumed today. That is why I love talk radio--conservative talk radio, specifically. But sometimes it seems that there's a lot of preaching to the choir going on in conservative media, and on the blog front, a lot of really important and interesting writing gets missed. So if I can share some of it, I will, but just know that I will be so glad when this election season has ended. I don't want to shove any more election related anything down any one's throat, because I'm just totally sick of it. But I made an exception for this.Whitney C.http://www.blogger.com/profile/03699779373612899246noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-19008427.post-19070194773304315722008-10-22T21:00:00.000-05:002008-10-23T00:38:19.070-05:00NKOTBLast night was so totally fun. I remembered all the words, I sang along, I waved my arm to Hangin' Tough, I squealed and clapped when Step By Step started (by far my favorite part of the show). They really did put on a good show, and I was amazed at Joey's ability to still belt out Please Don't Go Girl. It was really easy to feel, what, 9, 10 years old again in that moment.

Because I was in the younger end of the New Kids fans back in the day, my love for them was just purely innocent girlish adoration and affection (and there were some ladies there last night, a few years older than me, who viewed them in different manner back in the day, and apparently still do, given some of the outfits and comments I heard). And it was fun to revisit that time, and just remember how really sweet and fun it was to be a little girl.Whitney C.http://www.blogger.com/profile/03699779373612899246noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-19008427.post-10402581927291987992008-10-21T09:09:00.002-05:002008-10-21T09:14:17.318-05:00That's RightTonight, I will be hangin' tough with these guys:

<img style="cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhKNo9fP3G-BXgC57omrZ46PADLM4TSdq-VlSCb0a4tJPu6P-b810pl42TH8_jQhuN-MC5upVrtqC68qJretaWck3JAgLXHdAj5B2tpoutvnj9pKuaOk3l5sE0a8by0hYusQnFtMg/s400/nkotb.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5259609252110330530" />Whitney C.http://www.blogger.com/profile/03699779373612899246noreply@blogger.com3tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-19008427.post-24840459244543989802008-10-08T10:18:00.008-05:002008-10-08T13:13:39.436-05:00R-E-S-P-E-C-TSo, after every political debate I sit here at my desk the next morning while everyone around me makes their little comments, and I don't say anything, because I don't think work is the appropriate venue for political discourse.

Well, today, I couldn't help myself... 3 guys were laughing at McCain's arms, they were saying things like "what's the deal with his arms, he looks like he's carrying something under there all the time, ha ha ha!"

I jumped up and said, "Yeah, that would be because his plane was shot down and he broke both his arms, along with other injuries, and since he was a PRISONER OF WAR for FIVE YEARS, his bones didn't get set right, and so he can't lift his arms above this high." (I physically demonstrated this part for them)

Silence.

Then "Oh, I didn't know."

And I am left fuming, thinking: Really? You didn't know that? YOU DIDN'T KNOW THAT?!
But you're so well educated and informed!
I guess you also didn't know:
-he fractured both arms and a leg, and nearly drowned
-badly wounded, his captors refused to treat his injuries, beating and interrogating him to get information
-he spent six weeks in the hospital while receiving marginal care
-he lost 50 pounds in 6 weeks
-his hair turned white

I'm not saying to vote for McCain just because he was a POW, but for God's sake, have some respect. This man has fought for, suffered for, and served this country his entire adult life. He has not sought to serve his own self interests. If you differ with him ideologically, you are welcome to your opinion. When I see him, I see someone who has served and will serve his country first. And to not know that about him shows ignorance, and some serious lack of attention to the character of the candidates. She wound up not feeling well, so I ended up watching it by myself. And now I have no one to discuss it with! I liked it, and recommend it to any fan of the show.

I don't know how many fans of the show are the type that think it's a template for their life, like it's a lifestyle guide instead of entertainment, but I, obviously, am not one of them. I enjoy the show for what it is-- entertainment. And the movie has all the same elements--the writing is sharp and the humor is sparkling, and the clothes and shoes and the general over-the-topness are all there. In short, it's entertaining.

The only thing I'll say (this won't give anything away, don't worry) is that I did not see Dreamgirls, but after seeing Jennifer Hudson in this, I'm shocked that she won an Oscar. SJP makes it seem effortless, but you'll really appreciate her talent in her scenes with J Hud.

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgxQ7UHIFHumYz6hJVxsJVLDolyGDOYc4onVwOyMpalkRzcteWomTINR1DHydM8q1qc6WFnv61aCl2IviKjhhXTm75RxyMWQJJEDdU_3fz871EKHc9iFgXgUd8dXTczVsouRC5zTQ/s320/movie.bmp" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5205779761456899938" />Whitney C.http://www.blogger.com/profile/03699779373612899246noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-19008427.post-73507364515474229762008-04-25T14:59:00.004-05:002008-04-25T15:06:55.487-05:00Unfortunate Graphic...Sometimes, while an image may exactly capture the essence of the story, said image may be insensitive or otherwise inappropriate to attach to the story.
